ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy focuses on the application of infrared spectroscopy for rapid, non-destructive analysis of forensic and chemical samples. This course introduces learners to molecular fingerprinting techniques used to identify unknown substances with high accuracy.
The curriculum covers the principles of infrared radiation, molecular vibrations, and spectral interpretation. Learners understand how ATR (Attenuated Total Reflectance) technology simplifies sample preparation while enabling direct analysis of solids, liquids, and powders.
Hands-on training includes spectrum acquisition, library matching, qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis, and identification of polymers, drugs, fibers, explosives, and trace evidence. Emphasis is placed on understanding spectral patterns and avoiding misinterpretation.
